SWEET SIXTEEN FEST

DEECRACKS SWEET SIXTEEN FEST

Austria's most persistent punk rock band, DeeCRACKS, celebrate their sweet 16th anniversary at their most favourite venue in the world, the magnificent ARENA WIEN. They will be joined by very close companions of their touring adventures from all over the world in a double night party, that is guaranteed to last in your memory for years to come... just don't miss this!

DAY 1: Thursday, Sept. 19
- Jughead feat. DeeCRACKS & Guests
Alright! We couldn't be more excited to have John 'Jughead' Pierson , Co-founder and guitarist of the legendary Chicago based Punk band SCREECHING WEASEL, with us at our lil birthday bash! SW was formed by John and singer Ben Weasel in 1986 and became one of the most influential groups in the (pop)punk genre, known for thought provoking lyrics underlined by extremely catchy, aggressive as well as bittersweet melodies. No need to say they had (and still have) a huge impact on us as well! John left Weasel in 2006 but is still active with his band EVEN IN BLACKOUTS and the infamous MOPES.
Even though Jughead is so much more than "just" a musician (an actor, a novelist, a theatre producer, well basically a passionate artist) he will be on stage with us performing songs by Screeching Weasel and The Mopes!
If that's not enough, we won our dear friend Will DeNiro of London's own ZATOPEKS as a singer for this exclusive gig!

- The Manges
What comes to mind when you think about Italy? Beaches? Beautiful landscapes? Wine? Moana Pozzi? Well the MANGES are gonna change your view completely (if you don't already know them)! Since I (Matt) witnessed first hand in 1995 the strong affection Italy has with the Ramones, I realized what a huge role this country plays in the European (Pop-) Punk scene. The MANGES started out in 1993 in the sleepy town of La Spezia. A bunch of kids, sharing their love for bands like Ramones, Screeching Weasel and the Queers are trying to create something of their own (sounds familiar....). And they DID!! After countless releases, US tours with bands such as the Methadones, the Queers or Even in Blackouts, tours in Japan and all over Europe, the Manges definitely earned their spot in the Pop Punk Hall of Fame. They stayed true to themselves and that's something pretty rare nowadays, especially in the music scene.
Til today, Italy is one of the best countries to play shows and that's mostly thanks to the Manges who simply put it on the (punk) map! Not to forget Andrea (voc, guit) is also the co founder of the already famous Punk Rock Raduno festival, which takes place every July in Bergamo and is a great example for the passion and the dedication these guys have for the independent scene and the music they love! GABBA GABBA HEY!

- The Sino Hearts
Coming all the way from Beijing, China, these guys are fronted by our former bass player Zhong and actually formed in Austria, when he was living here. Now a full Chinese band, expect a sensational cultural exchange in Power Pop and Punk Rock that will make you shake your hips and move your feet.

- Boogie Hammer
Vienna's hottest Rock'n'Roll machine will hit your eardrums with catchy songwriting and infectious up-tempo grooves. Lead by a powerful rusty voice and backed by a solid rhythm section as well as occasional spot-on guitar solos, these forgotten sons of Motörhead, the Ramones and Rocket from the Crypt will take no prisoners at this wild party!

After-Party DJ: Franz Barcella (it)
Garage, Powerpop, Punk, Rock'n'Roll

DAY 2: Friday, Sept. 20
- DeeCRACKS
So here they are, the band of the hour, the leaders of any local high school drop out punk pack, the brat beating Ramones romantics, breaking hearts and flooding livers all across the continents in a flabbergasting twirl of pure Rock’n’Roll madness. Around since 2003, formed after the break-up of the Beatbrats and initially called the Cretins, these three dudes had to count all the way up to 16 this year to determine the anniversary, which is, after all, just really sweet. Time flies when you’re having fun! Young at heart and still under 40, they are sure to have a good piece of hard rocking roads ahead of them, so let’s say this event will mark the wild 1st period of a play-off that definitely deserves some over-time and will leave nobody a loser. Find what’s good & make it last! Here’s to DeeCracks! (Text: Wolfgang Kanduth)

- the Windowsill
Nicotine, Hormone, Backbreaker and... Sander!? Even though only 3 of the 4 members earned a punk name in the past, these Dutch desk jockeys bring quality office Pop Punk to this Fest. Outstanding songwriting mixed with a great sense for harmonies. They might have a questionable taste of fashion, but you'll be the judge of that. As past members of well-known Dutch bands The APERS and ACCELERATORS, they founded The WINDOWSILL to make their own kind of music. Fun Fact: In 2015, we released a split 10" with them on Shield Recordings called "Reconsider Fisto" and we are proud to have them play in Vienna for the first time!

- The Richies
As a teenager and part of the Punk scene in the early 90s in a small town in Austria meant one thing: You could not escape the huge amount of German bands dominating the locals’ taste. There were some good ones of course, but to be honest, most of them were a complete waste of time. THE RICHIES were love at first listen, though. They were by far the coolest of them all. Their straight up 1-2-3-4 attitudes, their witty lyrics and the uncompromising energy of the songs reminded heavily of the RAMONES (on purpose??) and that's what we needed.
Since their foundation in the late 80s, the Richies remain true to their vision of Rock'n'Roll and became good friends of ours as well in the last couple years. And friends shall be invited to birthday parties, right? We are very honoured to have them in Vienna, for the first time ever The Richies from Duisburg, Germany! I HATE MY DT-125!!

- Lucy and the Rats
Straight out of London, UK Lucy and the Rats deliver super catchy, garagey Power Pop with lots of attitude. Founded in 2015 by the lovely Lucy Spazzy, member of the Australian All Girl Power Pop / Punk trio THE SPAZZYS, as well as former bass player for yours truly, the Rats quickly made a name of themselves in the London underground scene, released addictive music on Monster Zero and Dirty Water Records and played shows all over Europe as well as South America and Australia. So it's about damn time they finally come to Vienna, right? They will and it's gonna be wild!

After-Party DJ: Sarah Lovett
Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Beat & Rock'n'Roll
